After the release of their self-titled debut cassette EP in early 1993, Love and War played a lot of shows and wrote a lot of material. In early 1994 they made plans to take a trip to Los Angeles, California, to play shows and promote the band. They pressed the single-sided 1994 Promo Tapes shortly before the planned trip, and brought them along. This pro-produced/pressed, limited edition single-sided promo tape ended up helping the band immensely while in California. They played some shows, sold most of the copies, gave all the rest of the copies to promoters, and before the end of their time in Los Angeles they secured two overseas distribution deals for the upcoming independently released "War Rages On" album. They also paid a visit to Foundations Forum, a Heavy Metal/Hard Rock convention in Burbank, California, where a writer for Entertainment Weekly (an international magazine) saw drummer Dave Hope lining the walls of the bathrooms with the "Love and War" Promo tapes. When asked about why he chose the bathrooms he said "People gotta pee!". The encounter ended up being described in Entertainment Weekly's feature article on the Foundations Forum Metal convention, "Symposium With The Devil", mentioning Love and War and Dave Hope by name in their September 1994 issue. Reformed in January 2015 as Apocalyptic Lovers.
