Not sure if this is the right thread to post this, but does anyone know anything about the recent influx of "Mausoleum Classix" releases? I read something about a stash of CDs being recently discovered in a warehouse somewhere, hence the number of CDs being available now on ebay, sonic age and numerous other sites, but there seems to be far too many around at the moment for that to be believable. Are these legit or is someone bootlegging these? I bought a copy of "Wolf - Edge of the Word" on CD recently, apparently a Mausoleum Classix original, but I'm not convinced - it looks a bit too 'new'. Any thoughts or opinions appreciated - cheers.

Hey man, interesting thing about Mausoleum Classix! Unfortunately I don't know anything either about this topic, but Wolf's Edge of The World is phenomenal record in my opinion, so if anyone has a clue about this I'd be interested too.. :)

That has to be a bootleg, why, couse on every release there was a little sheet that had all the titles that were apart of the actual series and Wolf's "Edge of the Wolrd" was not apart of it, hell, last year i saw on this japanese website i go to to search for new items and i saw that Mad Axeman's only full length was there and it has the mausoleum classix title on there, hell, go look, it has every single title and some of them are not actual pressings

Rock Avenue Records/Mausoleum Classix section
just type in mausoleum classix and all the titles come up

hope this helps.

Thanks for the link - well I don't know if it was part of the original series or not but I have seen it referenced on various sources as being a 1994 release. My copy doesn't sound like a vinyl rip, so if it is a bootleg, I'd assume it's a bootleg of a previous CD release. Usually bootlegs are pretty easy to spot, but what makes it harder to tell is that these Mausoleum Classix CDs feature on a number of sites you wouldn't normally associate with bootlegs, e.g:

Not sure if this is related to the subject but I'll put it out there anyway. I have purchased quite a few cds from 'mosh tuneage' the majority of which are absolutely fine but there are a couple which I think were not pressed from original source material.

Suicide Watch - Figurehead of Pain
Obliteration - Obscured Within (reissue)

Both cds seem to be made up of tracks taken from lossy sources. When using adobe audition's spectal analysis the tracks cut off at around 16000hz just like mp3s. I then used Tau Analyzer on both cds and every track on the Obliteration album come up as MPEG and all but one track on the Suicide Watch album was MPEG aswell.

I also have the Metal Messiah - Honour Among Thieves (reissue) from Mosh Tuneage. The album tracks are legit but the bonus demo tracks on this album show up as lossy but this isn't too much of an issue.

Has anyone else found lossy material in genuine releases?

Not sure where to ask this, so I'll just try here. I have the ORIGINAL pressing of Pungent Stench's "For God Your Soul, For Me Your Flesh" on CD (and LP); if anyone needs it, and it's okay to do so, I'll rip/post it.

I've been wondering recently if releases by Heavy Sounds label from Sweden are legit or not. I'm suspicious of them but on discogs they're not marked as unofficial (apart from one release).

I mean those CD's:
Tygers of Pan Tang - Wild Cat
Tygers of Pan Tang - Spellbound
Satan - Court In The Act
Jaguar - Power Games ‎
Tank - Filth Hounds of Hades

Link to discogs: Heavy Sounds

There is no definitive information of this "label" but the layout, lack of website etc. point to them being bootlegs. It is the same layout as the bootleg Flawed Gems reissue label (that one deals in 70's psych records).

Yes - that is the matrix.

Is everything else in order? The booklet, backcover etc?

I have some doubts about the back cover, no mention of Hellion Records, no barcode...
It can be an original but there are no pictures of it to compare

On the basis of that thread I would say it is an original one.
