SCAREM were a Cleveland, Ohio based Heavy Rock/Heavy Metal power trio that featured MISTREATER guitarist Larry Nottingham.
Rounding out the band were bassist Wes Weber and drummer Al Leister, both of whom would also later join Mistreater in time for their 2nd & final album, 1987's "Swami".
In December of 1980, just after Mistreater had recorded its "Hell's Fire" 7", but before recording the LP of the same name, Scarem used the same Indiana studio, (700 West), to cut these 2 songs in a single day.
The songs were recorded & engineered by Mo Whittemore, jr., who had also earlier engineered the sought after PRIMEVIL & ZERFAS albums at the very same studio.
This 7" has a similar sound & production/recording quality to the Mistreater 7" and debut LP.
The main differences between Mistreater's approach and the Scarem 45 are the much greater focus on guitar work and a lack of emphasis on lyrics.
Each song is guitar-dominated & 75% instrumental, with a lot more wild jamming action.
Scarem also released a further 7" single , (Night Rider b/w Through The Looking Glass), on red vinyl later in 1981, under the slightly modified band name of SCARUM.

RIPTORN, many thanks for this shining obscurity!! Well described above, they come out like a 70's band with heavy distortion-psychedelic kind of style , married with the melodic mesmerizing vocals of LARRY!! Coming as a crossover from hard to metal , bring to my mind other obscurities like the more traditional JPT SCARE BAND for instance! Of the fetish pieces to the proto metal hunters!! CHEERS YOU LOT BRO!! porosimetal
