TRIAX were a U.S. Heavy Metal/Hard Rock band formed in 1986 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, by bassist/vocalist Stefan Filer & ex-TERMINATOR guitarist Randy Troy Romero.
They were initially joined by Phil Romero on drums, (also ex-Terminator), but he was quickly replaced by John Sherwood from the band MANIFEST.
Troy Romero then tragically died suddenly at the age of just 23, and after a period of mourning the band decided to carry on, with Vic Andrews installed as their new guitarist.
In memory of Troy, it was decided that the band would subtly change it's name from Triax to TRYAX.
The newly re-christened band then entered Quincy Street Sound Studios & recorded the 1987 mini album "Le Commencer", releasing the six song opus later in the year on cassette only.
The French title of the album translates as 'The Beginning', but sadly this turned out to be the only album the band recorded.
The epic power ballad from the album, 'Lost Time', then won the award for 'Best Heavy Metal Song' in the very first New Mexico Music Industry Awards ceremony held in early 1988.
'Lost Time' then also appeared on the Various Artists compilation album, 'High Intensity Discharge'.
In 1989, Tryax decided to go their separate ways and pursue other musical interests, but all these years later the 'Le Commencer' cassette is now extremely rare & has become much sought after by fans of U.S. Metal.
