    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Snowblind was one of many obscure UK AOR bands that wanted to become huge, but failed, mainly due to line-up changes. Two musicians in the line-up might ring a bell: ex-Sabre bass player Geoff Gillespie - ex-Zoom Club Records and now owner of Majestic Rock Records - and ex-Omen vocalist Tony Mason. The band did an awful lot of gigs in and around London before they secured a deal with Belgian label Mausoleum Records in the autumn of 1984. Recordings for the debut album began at The Yard (Southall, London) on January 3, 1985, guided by producer Phil Chilton and his assistant John Ravenhall, and ended on January 24, immediately followed by a 12-hour recording session for the Friday Rock Show at the BBC’s famed Maida Vale studio the following day. The mixing of the album took place in April and was followed by a couple of gigs. On April 21, 1985 Tony Mason was fired from the band, which hastened the demise of the band. The original version of “Snowblind” was released on September 30, 1985. Besides the original 8 tracks, this re-issue also includes the four tracks that were recorded for the Friday Rock Show on January 25, 1985 and aired four weeks later. Strange but true, those 4 tracks sound better than the debut album itself. Gillespie regrets the fact that a lot of the songs they had been playing live for two years didn’t make it to the album. Therefore this “Snowblind” was not really the album the band members would have chosen to make. But, demo versions and live recordings of ‘absent’ songs like “City Dreams”, “Mountain High”, “Night Life” and “Snowblind” a.o. exist and may well see the light of day on some future Majestic Rock Records release.
