Jaguar! One of those bands from the famous era of the NWOBHM.. Jaguar had the potential of being a good band but never made it big. Like so many other bands from that time. The band is not great in composition and song writing skills but they make it up with their sheer fun of playing as evident in this recording. This recording was done in December 1982 in a little club called "Siesta Club" in Hengelo, Holland. They went to Holland for some concerts after gaining more success with their 2 demo’s and 2 singles in that said country then at home.

As soon you start the CD with the first song “Dutch Connection” (which starts halfway for some reason) you can hear the obvious quality of a tape recording. Not great at all!. But… When you have adjusted yourself a bit to the quality and “The Prisoner” starts, you will hear that the band and the audience have a great interaction and therefore a great time together. Certainly with songs like “The Fox”, “No Lies “ and “Backstreet Woman”. During the performance the crowd was asking for “faster” and the band obliged to it. And they did! In certain songs you really can hear speed metal before there was Speed Metal. The set ends with an encore called “California Man”, which is a cover by The Move. Is a odd one but a fun one!!

Do not judge this CD on the quality of the production or recording. It is, after all, a tape recording which had survived the time. What makes this album a great album is the enjoyment the band and the crowd had at that time. It is a great snapshot of the time period which also makes it a good addition to the collection of ones who likes or loves NWOBHM!

Highlights are: Prisoner, Axe Crazy, The Fox, No Lies, Backstreet Woman.

In short: Not a great production but great in fun!

    Great Review!

It's an absolute amazing recording! The sound is very rough but it fits perfectly to the atmosphere! The songs are played VERY fast ( for example STORMCHILD!!!!) - I love it when bands play their stuff faster in live situations - especially old Heavy Metal bands! They sound much more brutal and "dangerous" than on their records here...it's total FIST BANGING MANIA here!!

this CD was an obvious purchase for me, I've enjoyed their Power Games vinyl LP so much in the 80s and I also bought the CD reissue of that one, as well as the Anthology CDs - great band.
