You should have triple-checked the date... (whistle)

Ken Garner's excellent book, 'In Session Tonight', states that the session was recorded on December 3rd 1980. It was first broadcast on the Friday Rock Show on December 19th 1980.

well here is where i found the above date, and i am sticking to what i have. the tank-friday rock show date is correct so i'm going with what they have.

neither date you list is a friday nor is 3.30.81 how this show circulates.

well maybe your date is right assuming this session is from 1980. it says above 1981, and i believe it is just not from 3.30.81. anyway.

Well, if you look carefully on the link you provide you will clearly see that the first date given is December 19th 1980. That is, indeed, a Friday, and was the original broadcast date of the session.

Friday Rock Show sessions were pre-recorded, so the recording date of each session (in this case, December 3rd 1980) need not necessarily have been a Friday. If you look carefully on the link you provide you will clearly see the statement "The dates indicate the FRS broadcast date and not session recording dates" at the top of the page.

You should know that Ken Garner produced his excellent book after extensive research at the BBC. To quote from the book's preface: "every session date and production credit in the main text or Sessionography has been checked".
