new album from... The Rods !

I was just as surprised as some by you reading the title of this topic:
We are midst 2011... and The Rods have made an entirely new album !
Maybe a lot of you already heard about this fact but I hadn't.

I read about it in the most popular Metal Zine of Belgium and The Netherlands: Aardschok.
I have a subscription on this monthly magazine and in the latest issue the new album was reviewed.

It is called 'Vengeance' but Aardschok (meaning 'Earthquake', great name for a metalzine right ?) only quoted
it with 60 out of 100??

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QHPEG1ZzTes/TayRLPyxZkI/AAAAAAAAA6k/KJ_XebdXLyY/s400/VengeanceCover.jpg

This rather bad score is due to the fact that the vocals are lousy, at least that is what Aardschok
says. Don't agree at all! When I compare to some of the crap modern metal bands produce, 'Vengeance' is a KILLER album.
Highly recommended.
I 've been a fan of this band since the very beginning. They had this unique style in the 80's and this album is
a logic addition to their musical carreer.

And as GREAT bonus, our beloved 'Ronnie James Dio' does a guest appearance on this album, guess one of the last songs he sang before he left us way too early. For those of you who didn't know, Ronnie was a cousin of David Feinstein, the driving force of this great band. Call it a family favour.
Check out this amazing song 'The Code' here :

Further information about the new album can be found at the official site of 'The Rods'

I heard about plans for a new album months ago, but I gotta admit that forgot about it later.... It's certainly good news for us and as much as I respect Aardschok (being a long running mag that has played a VERY important role, especially in the 80s), I think that some of their staff seem to lack the ability to properly judge such albums (you shouldn't listen to it with a mind set to Slipknot mode). I just got it and haven't made up my mind completely, but I gotta say that 60/100 is pure bollox!

I heard the entire new Rods album and I must agree with everything that is said higher up ! This is a great album and I enjoy it very much !!

What Aardschok reporters are writing in their reviews is not always 100 % correct, that's for sure, and where it comes to the review of this awesome CD, they did a lousy job.

The RODS have always been one of my favorite US bands, I was already listening to their music in the early 80s.

I like the new RODS quite a bit. They never were a top 10 favorite of mine, but always liked their stuff, nothing flashy, just honest metal - I would easily give the new one 75 / 100.

Perfect. You hear by the first chords that this is a album by The Rods.Typical 80`metal.My
hopes were low after i bought the solo album by David Rock Feinstein "Bitten by the beast",
but this album is far better.

Agreed man ! The reason could be that Feinstein had to do it by himself on his solo album while the new album
from 'The Rods' is a group thing... ? Helps to have a wider input right ?
