General Metal Discussions » Does anyone on here listen to mostly modern metal?
from what i have seen on here i have seen mostly traditional metal fans such as myself and i was curious if there were any "non-traditional" metal fans on here. i would prefer it if this site stayed true.

This forum will stand for it's name i promise you. It's also mentioned in the rules that this forum are NOT for mainstreem metal. There is tons of other places the user could go to if he/she want to discuss that subject.

Those who have followed/seen the blog probably know already what kind of metal we're interested in here.

All I have to say on this topic is "DEATH TO FALSE METAL"!

If you have to ask "what is false?", then GET OUT, GO ON - LEAVE THIS FUCKIN' HALL, and go back to your Korn, Limp B, etc! (vking1)

Of course, Matthias Steel, you are one of the noble warriors and I agree with you, this HALL is TRUE!

I enjoy some "modern" metal stuff but obviously not as much as the almighty obscure traditional metal!

And non-traditional for me =/= not being true, music changes.. anyways.

In 7o's i hated soviet variety, jazz and punk (metal1)
In 80's i hated false metal (axe1)
In 90's i hated grunge , brit pop , pseudo-hard -rock ( f**k the Classic Rock review pages ) (no)
In 2000's - true black , brutal death , nu- metal, acid stoner. (axe) (axe)

But all this time i LOVE hard rock , heavy metal , speed- thrash, traditional doom .

I'm not a fan of traditional metal, I prefer artists who destroy borders... mainly in the avant garde's genres of hard rock also known as experimental metal.
Crawling in the brutal traffic of the Net, we may find delicious dishes of exotic Metal. Maybe in the music industry, removed from the nerve centers of hard rock and consequently closer to fusion of styles without destroying the essence (Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Arcturus, Kayo Dot).

Why should I logged on here if i were mostly into modern metal? ^^

Also id say that there is a huge distinction between "mainstream" and "modern"...

That's very true ofcourse.
I was hoping people would understand that "modern metal" neither are something the forum stands for but I'll write it into the rules to get it clear. (cheers2)

You'll never know.. I have been sent all kinds of stuff via the upload form, everything from Nu Metal (ala Slipknot), to Japanse Pop

Also tons of Extreme Nu Metal bands that want to promote their stuff, sadly I have to deny them this becouse the music just doesn't fit here.

I listen mostly to metal from the '90s, so that's probably too modern for most people here. I don't mean bands like Slipknot, I mean Gamma Ray, Blind Guardian, Sentenced (North From Here and Amok), old Therion, etc.

even do i do not listen to these so called 'waves of modern metal' (slipknot or lamb of god, for example), i do enjoy listening to bands as isis or neurosis among others.
i have nothing against people that listen to these, or other bands, but i prefer to keep to classics, to the bands i consider to play the kind of music, the kind of metal i truly enjoy :)

I like a lot of these as well. I have quite a lot of 90s and '00s cds; But my heart is and always will be at the old stuff. I bought the new overkill etc. But give me feel the fire (metal2)

Has anyone heard the band White Wizzard? Its the most modern band I would say I like. haha
I mainly listen to the bands releases from around 1970 - 1989 there was just something special about the music made during that time period.

Now if you mean "modern" as in symphonic and or hardcore bands I just cant get into it.
Something happened between 1990 and the present and it seems to be getting worse and worse. I mean for christs sake Morbid Angel sounds like Hatebreed now lol

Obviously if your on this site you listen to mostly rare old school metal, which is what true metal is. Bands like Korn and Lamp of God are pretty bad. I think they suck in both technique and writing.

80s metal just has a certain sound to it. The only way I can explain it is the raw sound, I like it.
