General Metal Discussions » Top 10 Metal LP's
Ok, it's my time. Only 10 albums is a pain in the ass to choose but here it is:

1.Mercyful Fate - Don't break the oath / Melissa (impossible for me to disassociate both!)
2.Slayer - Hell awaits
3.Omen - Battle cry
4.Iron Maiden - Powerslave
5.Warlord - Deliver us
6.Satan - Court in the act
7.Manilla Road - Open the gates
8.Sortlège - Métamorphose
9.Candlemass - Epicus doomicus metallicus
10.Slayer - Reign in blood

There are hundreds more to mention and I am sure I could change it every day except for Mercyful Fate that I consider untouchable!!

Very nice pick there with Mercyful Fate man... (metal1)
And indeed : it is quite impossible to choose between two first albums.

However, (but I am sure, you, as a Mercyful Fate adept knows this already for a few decades,) they made a SUPERB maxi LP before their first full lenght came out.

I am talking about this one : Nuns have no fun.
http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTOStQprYMBcnoCf92TZZGR0N4c5LwcqqPQMdnhKvUzpBIjLkn6&t=1

1 Doomed By The Living Dead (5:07)
2 A Corpse Without Soul (6:52)
3 Nuns Have No Fun (4:17)
4 Devil Eyes (5:48)

In my humble opinion the song 'A corpse without a soul' is the best song they've ever made.
Judge for yourselves my beloved brothers of metal :

You're right shadowman, 'A corpse without soul' is killer, anyway for me their best is 'Satan's fall'. Simply MO-NU-MEN-TAL, absolutely ripper solos, galloping riffs, lots of breaks, ultra inspired drum & bass rythmic and the King has his best on vocals. Unhealthy and melodic at once this song thrills me every time I listen to it! (yes)

My fave Fate tune is "The Oath". The entire Don't Break the Oath album is a masterpiece from start to finish. I love Melissa and the EP as well of course, and the songs you mentioned are killer, to be sure. HAILS!!

Well, when it comes to their 'Later' work I 'd go for these two albums for sure :

In the Shadows
and
Into the unknown

On the 'Shadows' album this brilliant song can be found : Thirteen invitations.

It stands representative for all that MF stands for...

Concerning Kings health situation (after undergoing triple heart bypass operation end 2010)
this is the latest news I could find (on Bravewords.com)
Written by his wife :

King has just finished his cardiac rehabilitation program this past Friday, and graduated with flying colors. Thanks to the wonderful people at the rehab center, his exercise regimen help him gain a lot of muscle, and start on the road of building up good endurance. We will start regular exercises now to get the endurance up to nice levels. The examinations by his heart surgeon and cardiologist revealed that his health is steadily improving, and they all expect him to feel better than ever, 15 years younger than he really is.

I am immensely proud of what he has achieved in these short 3 months, stopped smoking entirely, changed diet and doing regular exercise among other things. I cannot say anything certain about when he will be back working on King Diamond related things, but he is looking forward to finishing the DVDs eventually, and he is most certainly not stopping music.

I hope this information was helpful, I can honestly say that his progress has been nothing short of amazing. He is the strongest person I know.

He would also like to extend his huge gratitude to all of you, for your absolutely amazing support. It has really meant a lot to him.

The mighty STORMWITCH - I could easily have put one of their albums in there, though my favorite is Tales of Terror, followed by Beauty and the Beast. But I like all their albums, have all their CDs, including the brilliant TAROT'S MYST cd (Japanese with 2 bonus Stormwitch tracks, for a long time one of my most prized cds...)
