General Metal Discussions » Any Destruction or plasmatic fans?
Which version of the damned do you like better and why, Plastmatics or Destruction's cover?

I like the deep Vocals of wendy for plastmatics, but I like how the destruction version is played faster. I'm interested in what version of the song appeals to others.

I Preffer the Plastmatics Version Than Destruction's, I Like Both Bands But There's Something to The Plastmatics Version That Seems Better i Don't Know, When i Listen to Destruction's Version it Does'nt Seem to Catch On than The Plastmatics Version So in My Words I Go With The Plastmatics

Plasmatics version, definitely. The Destruction version is missing the power of the original, and missing the intro to set the mood. I just really like the sound of the Plasmatics, and their video for the song is classic too.

Plasmatics, without a doubt, even though Destruction is one of my faves! By the way, anybody remember the time Wendy O. hosted Headbanger's ball? I'll never forget the backdrop for her segments, it was a bunch of maggots squirming around on a brain!

I will give a vote to the Destruction one, as I thought it was quite cool, being a huge fan of early Destruction. Never got into the Plasmatics, so I admit my vote is biased, but I thought the Destruction version was more powerful.

Destruction version was one of my favorite tracks at end of 80's.
And i was old enough , when first time heard Plassmastics "orginal" and wasn't impressed at all ( sorry for Wendy's fans )

I prefer Plasmatics.Destruction's version is very dark and slow sometimes. And the weight of that female voice was amazing at that time...R.I.P. Wendy.

Plasmatics without a doubt. The whole "Coup d'Etat" is a classic heavy metal album to me. I really like the sound of that album.

Coup d'Etat is indeed a classic and the original hit me harder than the Destruction cover. But they are both great songs.

I've been a Plasmatics fan ever since they appeared on Fridays(ABC's short-lived version of Saturday Night Live) back in 1980. Wendy smashed a TV and chainsawed a guitar in half, which was considered pretty outrageous back then.

Plasmatics. Wendy's growl really makes the song.

Plasmatics version of The Damned crushes really heavy, BUT if Destruction used the thick, heavy production from their Infernal Overkill LP on their version, it would have been a close contest

i really like the destruction cover and it was the only version i had heard for many years in my early days..i wasn't very impressed when i first heard the plasmatics version but by now it's better in my book.destruction managed to keep its magic but the real thing is in the plasmatics album.

The Destruction cover of this really great but the best version is by far the version from Wendy O Williams(r.i.p.) and her vocals made the track that much more powerful. I like both versions quite a bit.

Pretty big fan of both bands.
Destruction's- Sentence of Death/Infernal Overkill and Plasmatics- Metal Priestess/Coup D' Etat.
That said, I always thought it was cool that Destruction covered "The Damned" but it doesn't translate well.
Speeding songs up and changing the melodies to suit the accelerated tempo tends to ruin what made the song good in the first place.
Original Plasmatics version far superior!!!
