That is funny because both were released by StormSpell Records .
It makes me curious how many rock and metal album covers were painted using Cerberus.

They're the famous painting 'Saturn Devours His Son' by Goya.

Finally my art history qualification comes in useful!

A blog on album art plagiarism in metal:
https://artplagiarism.wordpress.com/

Finally he got a label and a band to change a cover: Pestilence had apparently been ripped off by the rogue artist.

Some so called "plagiarism" on that site is very far-fetched, but the web owner has a good eye for details.

I just looked at everything there. Is there one post of art not showing blatant plagiarism?

When i studied art history they tried to get us excited about Goya, and for the life of me i couldn't see why his paintings were held in such high esteem. Then they showed us his 'black paintings', (including this one), and it instantly became entirely clear why he remains so highly regarded. 'Intense' doesn't even begin to do it justice. If i remember rightly he painted this as he was recovering from a serious fever which had almost killed him but instead left him permanently deaf.

And yet another version of the same artwork has surfaced, posted elsewhere on the forum by melkior:

UNIVERS - Un Amor D'Ete 7" (1979)

https://i.postimg.cc/NfwDjcs6/Univers.jpg

Interestingly, if this date is correct, this 45 predates the Mars Wildfire cover which i'd previously thought was the original version of the artwork.

Some of you might have asked yourself where these terrifying disturbing babies (to be seen on various album covers) come from… (hmm)
I roughly knew it was Giger´s work - the one who designed the Aliens for the "Alien" movie (1979).

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QsYnceC2WHg/VSZgFVmG7VI/AAAAAAAASYQ/r1pCU1L_eFE/s1600/207.jpg

Al Maazif´s post brought it back to my mind, when I saw Giger´s surreal paintings used by yet another band.
Meanwhile I learned that these motives are called Landscapes XIV, XVIII, XIX and XX (1972/73).

So I did some research and I was overwhelmed how many bands used the outstanding arts of this Swiss surrealist.
Anyhow, I might start a thread with some further infos on his work lateron.

So here is my resulting list of album covers from bands using Giger´s "Landscape" series as artwork for their releases (from A-Z):

• County Morgue (Ita) - And Insanity begins (1993)
• Entasis (Aus) - Demo (1992)
• Gothic (Fra) - Brutal Conditions for extreme Alchemy [ep] (1995)
• Liturgia (Col) - In Perpetuum [single] (1994)
https://i.imgur.com/aMKWl4S.jpg

• Rigor Mortys (Fra) & Kaemorph (Fra) — 2000 [Split]
• The now Noise! (Ger) - Grey [demo] (1997)
• The Reign (Eng) - This silent Nation [demo] (1992)
• Ulthrash (Esp) - Demo (1994)
• Ulthrash (Esp) - Demo (1994) — CD-reissue ''Innocent´s Corpses''
https://i.imgur.com/KMQbZ4R.jpg

I´m sure the list is not complete as I feel I´ve seen this motive on like two dozen covers (also an Austrian one I cannot remember now).
So please add your findings, I´d appreciate it very much.

Ah, btw: Giger mentioned that he wanted these landscapes formed from babies to look like pizza. (shocked)
Oh my, what a sick mind - let the following image burn into your brain and enjoy your happy nightmares… - or pizza!
