Yeah, it's been gone for about 5 or 6 months, but the end had been in sight for a while beforehand.
'Rocket', the guy who set up the original blog and some of the guys who helped him out in later years including 'Smoker', set up the forum when the blog was shut down due to DMCA complaints. Soon after setting up the new place however, the original guys began to have less & less to do with it, eventually bowing out with the forum then being run by mods they had chosen.
However those mods then disappeared too, leaving a few remaining members, (myself included), with limited access to the forum's controls & settings. 'UFO Steve' & the merry band of men tried to soldier on as best we could in order to keep the spirit of the place alive, but because of our limited access we were unable to do things like approve new members or update the forum software etc., so it became obvious that unless any of those with access returned, that the future of the forum wasn't likely to be a long one.
Having said that, the end still came as an unexpected & unpleasant surprise.
I have no knowledge of what the DMCA complaint was that finally ended the forum, but we were always very careful never to allow anything to be posted that was still in print, so i'd be most surprised if the complaint was legitimate.
However, it's all academic at this point as there's no way to appeal the decision anyway so it's a done deal.
    H.R.C. R.I.P.
So long & thanks for all the boots.

For anyone curious, you can look at what that forum was, by using the Wayback Machine

Many thanks to new member chrispbacon for pointing me towards the new resurrected incarnation of Hear Rock City which can be found here: https://hearrockcity3.blogspot.com/
Original main man 'Rocket' & latter day mainstays 'UFO Steve' & 'Smoker' are all on board & the internet is a better place for their renewed efforts at spreading quality music to those in the know.
