I didn't realize this thread was a thing, Glamtera all the way. It's a huge shame the band hides from their glam releases. Power Metal is an utterly fantastic album, it gives me vibes of a Metallica/Megadeth blend with a glam tinge. Very fun record.

Both. I like a few songs on Metal Magic and I immensely enjoy albums Projects in the Jungle and Power Metal. The last song in the latter is the best on that album in my opinion ("pussy tight, tonight, pussy tight, alright" haha).

I also love Cowboys from Hell, Far Beyond Driven and (to a lesser extent) The Great Southern Trendkill. Vulgar Display of Power and Reinventing the Steel were crap though. Phil's macho posturings on CFH and FBD were tolerable but on VDOP is truly pitiful and pathetic. IMHO, Dime and Vinnie should have replaced him with some other vocalist and continued on with the Pantera name and resumed the musical direction they left off in CFH (instead of the hardcore meets Exhorder bullshit of VDOP) but I digress.

(hehe)

That made my day :D .

Anyhow, i want to be fair and square as possible .
I didn't like it a second when they switched over to what they did in the Ninties .
(Actully hated it, no offence to anyone .)
Sure Glam can be atrocious, but this is one of those many cases where it doesn't .

Just to bad that their First record goes for insane prices (nope) .
Guess that is what happens to bands that make a switch like this

I mean .... Ahem (hehe1)

Me too. And I prefer Terry Glaze over Phil Anselmo as a singer.

I do like and prefer everything before they went groove metal. Even the first album. It has kinda a Def Leppard meets American Glam metal vibe.

I particularly like the very stage "Glam Metal" Pantera. "I Am the Night," and "Power Metal" are the best albums of the "colored" phase of Pantera.

"vinny paul glam is pretty much one of the ugliest sightings in metal history..." I kinda chuckled while reading this. No offense to vince (who is now hopefully residing in a much peaceful and pleasant abode with his maker and lord savior) but perhaps the reason why glam Pantera never took off is because one of the dudes is sticking out like a sore thumb in those 80s pictorials. One of the main selling points of glam back then was that all band members should at least be a pretty boy or look good with big hair like the guys in Motley Crue or Def Leppard, the better for the female listening audience to swoon over them. It's obvious there's nothing swoon worthy about vinnie paul, the guy must have inspired derision and disgust from female fans (it's a harsh world). I mean the guy at times, resembles William Murderface from Dethklok (laughz2)

Power Metal and Metal Magic are the ones I prefer now. As mentioned above, Metal Magic sounds more like Def Leppard, before they turned the glam cringe up to 11. So Glamtera for the win, although my fav Pantera song is 'This Love' and I listen to all their albums.

as much as Dimebag was a huge KISS/Ace Frehley fan,....
they ripped off NWOBHM act Raven in the solo, so they are are cool in my books, as nobody else considered doing it, I bet!

Pussytight

When I was a teenager, I would have preferred Pantera. Since my musical taste has improved (now being over XL face value years old), Glamtera sounds much better. Personally I do not find any incarnation of this band relevant, but they had some good musicianship.
