Hi Hellraiser, do you know ZNOWHITE? There are quite a few great "Z" bands - I love ZANDELLE and ZED YAGO to name two favorites, and you can't go wrong with classic albums by these bands, but ZNOWHITE is my most favorite "Z" band.

Try the band 'Z' - Keepers of the Sign. The Cd can be found easily, and is a cheap bootleg.
It's an awesome mixture of dio worship and early power progressive metal the ryche way.

Is it really a bootleg? I have it, and it says Unisound Records. Now, Unisound is a Greek label, and perhaps people from Unisound also are into a lot of the Greek bootleg scene (which is massive), but Unisound did have official releases as well.

I thought it was, but I just figured it seems to be original according to this link:

Sorry for the misconception, my fault.

Zoetrope was a pretty good '80s thrash metal band from Chicago.

ZED was awesome doom/sludge with members of Machine That Flashes, although only had two splits (one with the lamentable Burn the Priest) their split with 309 Chorus had enough songs to be a full-length and is heavy as shit.

I'm shocked that no one has mentioned the amazing viking/power metal group "Zonata". I've got their "Tunes of Steel" debut on pre-release. (knight2)

Züül (USA) released an album, "Out Of Time", in 2010 that was actually pretty cool. And if you like rabid black metal, there's always the Zyklon-B (NOR) "kvlt" EP from 1995.

But - as others have mentioned above - the most awesome Z-band is without doubt Znöwhite, hehe!

Definitely, that Züül CD was very good indeed! Definitely recommend them. And Zonata, cool band, I bought their CDs as well, 3 of them, though I haven't heard from them in a while.

My favorite Z bands would be Zaxas, Zed Yago, Znowhite, and (one that has not been mentioned yet) Ztorm from The Quest Tapes compilation.
