Wanting to start a topic on this subject for quite some time now, here it is...
Bandnames... I have often wondered how the hell metal guys decide on the name of their band.
Some are strange, funny, hilarious even, or just plain ridiculous.
let me give you some examples...

Abarzäkïvömævüøth, Danish black metal band... I mean, c'mon...? How the hell do you pronounce that ?

And what about this one :

Anal Desecrating Penis Mutilation : "mam" ? "Yes my beloved son?" "I have formed a band with some of my friends!" "Really ? Good on you son ! And what is your band called then ?" "euh...."

The Bitch in the Van ?? Hope that does not say anything about this Dutch band lead singers' girlfriend?

Doing Nuns in the Butt for Satan Pretty sure this band is going to sell thousands of albums...

Well,tried to search some stupid words in the metal archives and most times appears that kind of bandnames,especially searching for bible related character names or things like "happy" as a proggressive metal(at least it says the encyclopaedia) band called "Happy Kitties".And for some strange reasons the bands with "Jesus" in their names tend to anal related names.

These days it seems like bands deliberately try to come up with the weirdest and/or most offensive names they can think of, so a topic like this isn't much fun. You could fill a book with dumb band names like The Number Twelve Looks Like You, I Wrestled A Bear Once, Super Heavy Goat Ass, Pinky Tuscedero's White Knuckle Ass Fuck, and more.

A trend that especially pisses me off is bands whose names start with "We Are". We Are the Fallen, We Are the Riot, We Are Scientists, etc. If you are the Fallen, name your damn band the Fallen!

There were plenty of odd band names before the hipsters took over, though. I'd love to know what Pettypew means.
