Not to be too obvious, but.... "Metallica - Nothing Else Matters". The fact that the singer...aka James Hetfield, Rhythm Guitarist, wrote the solo for the song and it was pretty bad ass...that's pretty cool ;)

What do you consider a ballad?

I think of ballads as the fluffy 80's type of ballads. Which I can't listen to.

To me there is a difference between ballad and a slow melodic tune.

A slow melodic tune would be Black Sabbath - When Death Calls whereas a ballad would be more like Every Rose Has It's Thorn.
