Henry Paul is an American Southern Rock and Country singer/songwriter/guitarist who was the front man and founder of the HENRY PAUL BAND.
Henry and guitarist Jim Fish formed the country rock group SIENNA in Tampa Florida in 1971 with drummer Monte Yoho and bass player Frank O'Keefe.
Sienna disbanded the following year with Paul then joining Hughie Thomasson's band THE OUTLAWS who had been formed in 1967 as THE FOUR LETTER WORDS.
The band was completed by Henry's former Sienna band mates Yoho and O'Keefe, who had both been members of previous incarnations of The Outlaws.
They started playing clubs around the Tampa area and added singer/guitarist Billy Jones, giving birth to the band's first infamous guitar trio later dubbed "The Florida Guitar Army".
By 1974 they were on the road opening shows for several established Southern rock groups including LYNYRD SKYNYRD.
Clive Davis of Arista Records discovered them and signed the group, becoming the fledgling label's first rock band.
Their self-titled 1975 debut album quickly went gold on the back of the success of hits like "Green Grass and High Tides," and "There Goes Another Love Song."
1976 saw the band opening for THE WHO on their 'Put The Boot In' tour, alongside THE SENSATIONAL ALEX HARVEY BAND & LITTLE FEAT.
In 1977, after recording two more successful albums with The Outlaws, ('Lady In Waiting' & ''Hurry Sundown'), Henry left to pursue a solo career.
Within a year he had founded the Henry Paul Band with his old Sienna band mate Jim Fish, debuting in 1979 with the album 'Grey Ghost'.
It included songs such as 'So Long' and 'Grey Ghost', the latter of which was dedicated to the memory of Lynyrd Skynyrd's late singer Ronnie Van Zant.
A very successful stint of American touring followed, including dates with the CHARLIE DANIELS BAND & an appearance at his annual Volunteer Jam.
After the touring came to an end, Jim Fish was replaced by new guitarist David Fiester.
Fish would go on to play with TOM SKINNER and THE BYRON BERLINE BAND.
The Henry Paul Band's second album, 1980's 'Feel The Heat', had more of an overt Hard Rock sound, with the Southern edge slightly toned down.
Their third album, 'Anytime', included the 1981 top 40 US hit 'Living Without Your Love', and the LP showcased a more radio friendly approach than previous recordings.
When not touring as the Henry Paul Band, the group (minus Henry Paul), would often fill their weekends playing gigs as THE BUTTROCKERS.
An archival live album by The Buttrockers, ' At The Thirsty Turtle Pub', recorded in Cocoa Beach, Florida in June 1981 was issued on CD in 2010.
The Henry Paul Band's final album, was issued as a self-titled Henry Paul solo record in 1982 & had a slick AOR sheen that owed little to the band's original sound.
By 1983 the Henry Paul Band had disbanded, with Henry then reuniting with The Outlaws.
Their reunion led to the The Outlaws 1986 'Soldiers Of Fortune' album, which put the band back on the map after a few years in the doldrums.
Henry remained with The Outlaws until 1989, when he again left the band, this time to start a new career in Country music, founding BLACKHAWK with Van Stephens & Dave Robbins in 1991.
BlackHawk were hugely successful from the outset, with their 1994 debut album going double platinum.
Since then the band have issued six further successful albums, and have had several hit singles.
Tragedy struck in 1999 when Van Stephens was diagnosed with melanoma, a deadly form of skin cancer.
After a long and courageous fight, Van lost his battle with the condition in 2001.
Henry Paul then formed BROTHERS OF THE SOUTHLAND with former WET WILLIE vocalist Jimmy Hall & solo artist BO BICE.
They have recorded 3 albums to date, and are still an ongoing concern when the various participants schedules permit.
After the 2007 death of Hughie Thomasson, THE OUTLAWS 2008 came together due to the efforts of Henry Paul and Monte Yoho.
After adding former Henry Paul Band guitarist Billy Crain & percussionist Joe Lala the band began gigging, with a 4 track EP 'Green Grass And High Tides Forever : Live', then released in 2009.
A full length album entitled 'Demos' was issued the following year, but because of legal action taken by Hughie Thomasson's widow, it was released under the name of THE NEW OUTLAWS.
In 2012, having won the right to use The Outlaws name, the band released their critically acclaimed album, 'It's About Pride'.
The album was dedicated to the memory of late Outlaws members, Hughie Thomasson, Billy Jones & Frank O'Keefe.
The band still tours extensively throughout the United States, & have recently gigged with Blackhawk performing as the opening act.

Glad someone else remembers the Henry Paul Band, it seems like they're a forgotten band nowadays, but they were a terrific Southern rock act, particularly on their first two albums.
