MASTERS OF REALITY are a Hard Rock band formed in Syracuse, New York in 1981.
Despite being named after a BLACK SABBATH album, the band's sound leant heavily on 70s influences with a more bluesy feel.
A five song demo fell into the hands of Def American supremo Rick Rubin in 1987 which led to a deal with his Def American label.
Going for a distinctly retro vibe, Masters Of Reality debuted in 1988 with a stunning Rubin produced eponymous album, also known as 'The Blue Garden'.
Surprisingly, despite the buzz surrounding the band, Chris Goss walked out on the band in the midst of a 1989 American tour taking the band name & Bass player Googe with him
The other half of the band, Tim Harrington and Vinnie Ludovico founded THE BOGEYMEN, releasing the 'There's No Such Thing As...The Bogeymen' album in 1991.
Goss was able to crystalize his retro musical vision for the band further when former CREAM & BLIND FAITH drummer Ginger Baker joined in time for 1993's 'Sunrise On The Sufferbus' album.
However, despite critical acclaim for the album, the band's touring plans were shelved when Baker abruptly departed the band.
Goss then delved into the world of production, becoming heavily involved with the highly influential KYUSS and recording the likes of I LOVE YOU, SCREAMING TREES & STONE TEMPLE PILOTS.
He then pulled MASTERS OF REALITY back together for a 1997 live album 'How High The Moon? - Live At The Viper Room'.
Masters Of Reality then issued the studio album 'Welcome To The Western Lodge' in 1999, with a European tour following the record's release.
Goss continued his production work, with credits including IAN ASTBURY's 2000 solo album, UNIDA, SOULWAX and SLOBURN.
A new Masters Of Reality studio album 'Deep In The Hole' appeared in the autumn of 2001, with a live album, recorded on their December European dates, entitled 'Flak And Flight' following in 2002.
The band line-up on the tour & resulting live album had Goss joined by drummer John Leamy and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE members Nick Oliveri and guitarist Josh Homme providing the Bass and Guitar respectively.
During 2002 Goss put together a side band with former MARILYN MANSON bassist Twiggy Ramirez (aka Jordie White), which was initially named SNOWBALLS.
Masters Of Reality then released its fifth studio album, a collection of new & previously unreleased tracks, entitled 'Give Us Barabbas', in 2004.
Following a period of ill health, Goss reactivated the Snowballs project, now renamed GOON MOON, for the 2005 'I Got A Brand New Egg Layin' Machine' EP.
They then followed this with the full length 'Licker's Last leg' album in 2007.
Due to his production commitments, his involvement in the 'Desert Sessions' project and Goon Moon, it was 2009 before the next Masters album 'Pine/Cross Dover' appeared.
The touring cycle for the album brought the band back to Europe where they went down a storm on the Summer festival circuit.
A brand new Masters album is rumoured to currently be in the pipeline with a projected release date of early 2015.
